More than eighteen months ago, founder Pat Langley and lead designer Bart Milczarczyk of Vaikobi joined forces with Aussie Laser (ILCA) icon Brett Beyer to provide expert advice on this specific product. Together, they set out to make the ideal hiking shoes on earth. Following extensive design research, development, and testing, a number of excellent global crusing stores are now carrying the brand-new Vaikobi Hiker Pressure Swimsuit.
Mountain climbing products
“Our climbing athletes told us that some mountain climbing products made them fall since the pads slid about and weren’t sturdy enough for mountain climbing. We’ve been told we can create a better hiking companion that offers the greatest comfort and support and is created exclusively for the end user, says Milczarczyk.

Periods of mountain hiking
For extended periods of mountain hiking, the hiker’s well-fitting waist belt with an adjustable contemporary portion provides dynamic body support. Each leg has a 1000D Cordura-reinforced pad area and four indestructible extruded fiberglass battens. This proven, hassle-free, externally mounted batten system is the only one that remains in place throughout a crusade.
The Vaikobi hiking suit has many customizable features, such as adjustable shoulder straps that can be worn crossed over or straight depending on the sailor’s upper body dimension and a bolstered, trimmable leg size that allows the customer to customize the suit to a 3/4 or 5/8 size.
After speaking with athletes and coaches, the Vaikobi team quickly realized that wear and tear on the legs and seat was the main issue for sailors who were mountain climbing. In order to provide structure and support to the thigh and seat space—where most mountain climbing fits fail first—the solution consists of low-stretch neoprene VAR panels and bonded taped seams to reinforce increased load zones and provide extra robust seams.
